The article below was written by Michelle in 2021, when we celebrated our 5th anniversary at our beautiful premises on Marshside Road. We have been there for 9 years now, and 39 years in the profession!
We would like to thank every single person who has allowed us the honour of caring for their loved ones, every person we have worked alongside, and our amazing team. We would also like to thank the incredible NHS and key workers, who have worked tirelessly during such a difficult time.
Michael and I made the decision to set up on our own, as a local Funeral Directors, in Southport (where we are from and live), so we could help families in their time of need and provide the best care possible, ensuring every single person brought into our care, would be treated with kindness, dignity and respect, remaining at our premises until the day of their funeral. We could not have imagined how successful we would become in such a short time, and I know that is because of Michael’s wonderful reputation having worked in Southport for so many years, and because we have the most caring, professional and dedicated team.
We are here to help, and provide funerals with cremation or burial, direct (unattended) cremation and burial, woodland burial, bespoke cremation and burial, ashes caskets, urns, monumental masonry, memorial items and jewellery, as well as ongoing support.
If you would like information about what to do in your time of need, when a loved one passes away, we can send you a leaflet that can help with practical information about what to do and who to contact, please just telephone, email or call into our office for the leaflet. You can also find information on our website or you can telephone to arrange a face to face meeting to discuss any questions or concerns you may have.
I thought it would be nice, to take this opportunity to let you get to know us all a little bit better:

MICHAEL RUSHTON is quite honestly the best Funeral Director and Arranger I have ever met, it’s no wonder that since we have opened he has conducted the funerals of so many past Funeral Directors and Clergy from Southport, he has gained a lot of respect over the years and I could not be prouder of him. He has been in this wonderful profession for over 35 years, making him the longest serving Funeral Director in Southport. He serves as business principal with his wife and business partner Michelle (me). He can do every role, cherishes his work so much, and is still completely hands on working every day, even though we have wonderful staff to help us. Michael is 54 and enjoys spending time with family and our children, classic cars, motorcycles, gardening (when he has to) and target shooting.
He says the best part of his role is “Caring for people in the correct manner, the way they should be cared for, that means everything to me, I also get such satisfaction from guiding a family in their time of need, and when a family tells me we helped them and did their loved one proud, it means so much. I am incredibly proud of the whole team.”

MICHELLE RUSHTON (that’s me), I have been in the bereavement then funeral profession for over 10 years. Like Michael I have done every role, however, I only arrange and direct when asked for these days, as my role is mostly behind the scenes now, caring for loved ones and being in charge of the day to day running of the business. I’m 46, have 4 wonderful children ranging from age 1 to 17, I enjoy time with my family especially time with the children, baking, wildlife photography, motorcycles and the voluntary work I do within the local community. The best part of my role is bringing comfort to families, and knowing that everyone is cared for like our own family, also how proud I feel of our amazing team every day.

LEE is a wonderful Funeral Director and Arranger, he is incredibly caring and professional and we feel very blessed to have such a lovely genuine person working with us, who shares our values and love of helping others. Lee always goes the extra mile to make sure families have what they need. Lee puts us all to shame every day with the healthy delicious meals he brings in, he is an inspiration to us all! He enjoys the great outdoors and family holidays to North Wales and Anglesey. He says the best part of his role is “Being able to help and support families at a difficult time, it is truly a great honour to care for your loved ones.”

SASHA is the most sincere and thoughtful person, who is simply amazing in her role, assisting the Funeral Directors and working in our reception. She welcomes people into our premises with such kindness and compassion, and organises so many of the things required from music to order of service and much more. We are so fortunate to have Sasha working with us. She enjoys pottering in her garden growing flowers, tomatoes and other vegetables, reading and spending precious time with her family which includes trying to entertain her teenage son! She says the best part of her role is “Seeing how strong families are and how they come together to support each other, following their journey and hoping that we have helped in a small way with their grief. I also love seeing all the beautiful floral arrangements when they arrive.”
We also have some wonderful part time team members, who we are incredibly thankful to have working with us, they are equally as kind, caring and respectful.
Thank you for taking the time to get to know us. Please visit our Facebook page to see some of the lovely kind words we receive from families. If we can ever help you, please do not hesitate to contact us.
